Reports of an ongoing ground and aerial search in the South Hill area of Ithaca for William Jacobson, a 19-year-old freshman at Ithaca College student who has been missing. William was last seen between 3:30–4:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 27.
New York State Police divers found William's body of in a small pond less than a 10th of a mile from the college's public safety building.
The pond lies in a depression, about 50 to 60 yards wide, with steep grassy banks bordered by a sectioned guardrail on the northwest side and a paved footpath on the southeast side.

William's death was reported to be ruled an accidental drowning
according to police. Toxicological test are not available for several weeks.

"Alcohol and end-of-semester parties have a long tradition in Ithaca, but the festivities also bring ethanol poisoning and the occasional student death. Our campuses and our community must do better to reduce the high price of this tradition."
