fraternity reach settlement in death Reported on the settlement involving the family of a University of Southern Mississippi alumnus Sammy Broadhead who died after playing beer pong at the Sigma Nu fraternity house. The out-of-court settlement was reached with the fraternity and the university. Sammy attended a party at his old frat house. A drinking game called beer pong required participants to drink large amounts of alcohol. Sammy, age 25, collapsed from high levels of alcohol consumption and later died. Also reported that Southern Miss police were investigating an Aug. 28 incident at the Kappa Sigma house. Two students involved were admitted to a hospital for treatment of alcohol poisoning.
